Featuring the Work of Dr. Thanos at the Hive Gallery, Because Death Becomes Her

This Month at the Hive Gallery in honor of this time when the veil between the worlds grows thinnest, the IPM back room will be hosting the especially unique, intriguingly controversial and markedly macabre work of the elusive Dr. Thanos, in her series of still photography she has entitled,

Between Life and Afterlife
This series of photographs was taken over several years, in an ongoing visual investigation of the lives of public servants who work with the dead, and the “afterlife” of those whose remains they examine and care for. Taken in Medical Examiner and Coroner Offices all over the United States in the 1980’s, 90’s and early 2000’s, these photographs depict a former Medical Examiner’s effort to confront emotionally and spiritually what she had, in conducting the duty of her profession, engaged with on an intellectual and professional level over several decades. The author of these photographs, maintaining anonymity for her subjects, is known only as Dr. Thanos.
From the work of Dr. Thanos, "Dr. J & Mr. H" Skeletonized Remain

If you missed opening night on October 6th then not only did you miss the artwork, but you also missed this guy:

who knows what is lurking (or working) around the next corner at the Artwalk this week on Thursday October 11th from 8  to 11 p.m.

Dr. Thanos, Ink Pen Mutations, and an inevitable weird guy will always be waiting for you at

The Hive Gallery
729 S. Spring Street
Los Angeles, CA
And the entrance is kept the way your spirit should be--totally FREE!

The featured work of the main gallery will be themed around Cthulhu, for all you lovers of Lovecraft and appreciators of Weird Tales.

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn."

Don't miss this once in a death-time treat. Because while in his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu may wait dreaming, but Dr. Thanos waits with her camera.  Not to mention, Mother will be displaying a few new small pieces as well.

More to come in October:
the Book Release Party for Aliens in LA at La Luz de la Jesus Gallery.
